Rick or Reat

The year of the pirate was so last year...2008 in Harrison's world is the year of the firefighter!  Firefighter Z'berg, owner of a shiny red birthday fire truck, amazed us all by actually wearing his hat for longer than 5 minutes and totally looking the part.  He followed the big kids next door to trick-or-treat at Inge's and worked hard to say pumpkin - "da-puh-puh" is what we got!  Oh, and out of costume desperation I grabbed the pink wig to pull off a last minute Britney Spears...I am absolutely planning a costume in advance next year, I promise!

There's a wild animal on K St...

I finally tried on the giraffe costume our neighbors gave us...I was positive Harrison would hate it and tug at the head part immediately but he actually ran around in it for about an hour.  It was hysterical and I seriously could not stop laughing.

Side note:  something is wrong with my camera right now because these pictures really don't come close to capturing color like they used to.  Aren't these pictures really washed out and white?

We love three day weekends!

We spent the entire Columbus Day holiday Monday (thanks State of California for a three day weekend!) relaxing, hanging out and playing outside.  Harrison and I took the wagon to McKinley park for some duck feeding action, which he was very into this time - he insisted on holding the bread bag and managed to throw bits far enough to really impress me.  He has a serious arm!  Of course he had to share with his number one friend and food begger Karly, who was on her best behavior and did not even try to hunt down one single duck!

Harrison and the ladies go pumpkin huntin'

Harrison and Madeline discover the wheelbarrow

Goofing around in the dirt

H has this obsession with lifting extremely heavy items (or trying to lift as the case was at the pumpkin patch).  He, of course, had zero interest in the small pumpkins for little people his age

Kate joined in the fun, too...the three would have stayed in the wheelbarrow all day if their parents didn't get a little tired of pushing the thing around!

We finally checked out Soil Born Farm for their Harvest Festival celebration.  The kids had a ball in the dirt playing with pumpkins picked straight from the nearby fields and also enjoyed a little farm tour to say hi to sheep, chickens and the pig.  He had a great time and I think will love the whole experience even more next year when some of the kid activities like face painting and mask making aren't quite so over his head!

Fun in the East Bay

Rockin out with Riley at the Pleasant Hill Art and Wine Festival

The more maracas the better!

Napping on the way to the big birthday party

H got into the action with Grammy Lynn and Tyler on the trampoline

Lovin the ball bin

Harrison went absolutely insane for the bubbles - "buh-buh-buh-buh-buh"

The boys spent the car ride home yelling and talking about how much fun they had at My Gym celebrating their pal Tyler's birthday

What a fun weekend with our friends!  We played with the McHale gang and kiddies at Andrea's song and story show in downtown Pleasant Hill, took over Bubba and Amanda's house and joined Tyler and his friends and family for a crazy afternoon of climbing, running, swinging, singing and playing.  Whew!

What happens with Papa Jim, stays with Papa Jim

Harrison spent the day with Papa Jim, the ducks at the park and his new friend Chuck E. Cheese.  This for a young man who eats all organic food, primarily fruits and veggies...not that he completely rejected the pizza offered to him by any means!  He looks a little wild-eyed on the ride and I'm sure was so utterly overstimulated that he was semi crazy.  BUT he was a totally happy camper when I saw him after work and after some extremely interesting substances (read:  grease and processed stuff) in a few gnarly diapers, he slept very well!
