Close ups

My coworker Priscilla took these shots of Harrison at dinner after our Santa Cruz Open House. These seriously make me want to a) take a photo class and b) have a fancy camera...great pics!

Goofball

Harrison does this hilarious new program when he is caught doing something he is not supposed to like standing in the crib at bedtime, tipping Karly's water bowl over, climbing on a shelf,or  trying to eat a sack of potatoes/trash (see above) - he looks up, gives a huge smile, and starts laughing hysterically.  He definitely understands when I catch him in the act and is just so pleased with himself for being such a big boy that he has to crack up.  I try to urge him toward an activity he is actually okay to do but of course also end up laughing.  I mean there is no way to NOT crack a smile/bust up at this little 8 month old baby trying to pull a fast one on his mom (hmmm, maybe this time she won't come in while I am jumping around in my crib...ooops, wait, she caught me again)!

So this weekend at Bubba and Amanda's, Harrison kept finding his way to the pantry where he attempted to hold onto the potato bag and trash can at the same time and kind of walk between the two.  Between that game, playing with Elliot the giant stuffed dog and climbing stairs, he had a blast!

Go Tyler's Angels

Saturday we joined our friends Kelly, Brad and Tyler Wilson, along with a huge group of Tyler's Angels in a walk-a-thon to raise funds for and awareness about the Angelman Syndrome Foundation.

It was a great event and such a treat to spend time with our friends.  Looking forward to next year!

Chompers

Harrison's first two teeth came in, at the same time about a week ago.  I keep hearing all of these stories from people whose kids go to bed toothless one night and just wake up with teeth...or sometime in the afternoon miraculously pop new teeth!

Well, Harrison's teeth have been taking their sweet time and the process seems to go on forever.  First I saw what looked like teeth under his gums a few weeks ago, then a little bit of white poking through shortly after that, then what looks like half a tooth a while later...currently the teeth seem to be almost up but it's like they still need a few days to finish or something.  It's so bizarre, the whole growing teeth situation.  Harrison kind of plays with his teeth, touching his fingers to them and rolling his tongue over them constantly.  He is definitely chewing food more and doing pretty well with little bits of table food (and of course Cheerios and Gerber sweet potato flavored puffs) but unfortunately today he also learned to bite his mom while nursing - HARD!  Not chewing, a serious bite.

I think right this second I am less impressed with this milestone!

Busy Weekend!

Cruising in the pack with the Uncle

We had such a fun, busy weekend - first in San Francisco for Kaitie and Steve's Annual Baggo Tournament (and the first time Riley, Beckett, Luke and Harrison all got together...photos soon), then to San Jose for a quick visit with the Masons and finally a stop in Davis on the way home to check out the Whole Earth Festival with Tutu.  Whew, tons of fun, with so many of our favorite people but we are ready to sleep!

Best buds

When he wasn't being packed around the Masons' pad, Harrison played with his new best friend crazy cousin Mo...and loved every second of it, even the when the super long Mo tongue went in for many sessions of licky face and licky feet!

Harrison rockin his perfect earth fest outfit

No joke, standing up on his own in the crib!

Um, yeah, this is a totally unexpected surprise that came as Harrison put up a good fight with bedtime...I thought he was crashed out only to hear this cackling and squealing as he learned to stand up in the crib and proceeded to hang out laughing, standing up, sitting down, standing up again for another 15 minutes.  I know standing up in the crib was only a matter of time but I feel so unprepared for the fact that even his bed is now a jungle gym in his eyes.  I sincerely hope we have some time before this child learns how to climb out but I am already looking into alternate-sleeping-plan-B!

Congratulations Kate and Josh!

On our way to the big event at Squaw

Mr. and Mrs. Alves

Mmmm, we love Wet Woodys at Garwoods!

Harrison spent two whole nights without his mommy and dada this weekend while we celebrated Kate and Josh's wedding in Tahoe.  He had a blast at the zoo with Grammy Shelly, Papa Jim and Tutu and spent the bulk of his time pulling himself up on furniture! Literally, we left midday on Friday and by the time we came home Sunday at lunchtime, there was Harrison holding onto the edge of his stuffed animal basket totally standing up.  He has been doing the frog pose for a while as he crawls around but now he tries to go from hands and knees to just feet planted down...it's crazy!
